MISSY
My sweet Melissa….where do I start? So many memories made in the almost 15 yrs. you were with us. Always at the bottom of the pack, last dog out the door, patiently waiting your turn, never wanting to stir up any problems. Can it really be that many years ago that I had to go snatch the light little golden girl out from under our new weigala bushes? She’d discovered a wonderful hiding spot. She’d also discovered that digging in cocoa shells was a lot of fun, so this would be a recurring theme all through that first summer. Who would’ve thought then that this same little girl would walk on the landscape timbers as a mature young lady to keep her toes out of the mud? Like a lot of girls, Missy marched to the beat of her own drummer. One memorable winter day when the temperature with chill factor reached -54, we couldn’t get her to come inside. Laying on the frozen driveway with her ears flapping in the gusts was just too enjoyable. She’s the only dog I’ve ever heard of to hit a car, but the car ended up the worse for the encounter, and Missy never ran into the street again for the rest of her days. She and our three children grew up together, and she was as gentle and playful a companion for them as we could wish for. She was a veteran of many Goldstocks, and was never shy about letting me know that sometimes napping was her top priority right then. My predictable partner on GRROWLS home visits, dog evaluations, & fundraising events…….the perfect lady. How time flies…..it seems like she was with us forever…….yet not long enough. Missy, thank you for the lessons learned, and the love & joy you brought to our family….we will always love & miss you.
