Thank you for contacting us. To introduce you to our group, here is a brief description of GRROWLS-NY. We are an all volunteer group active throughout New York State. We take in Goldens that have been abandoned by their owners or lost. Vets and shelters all over the State contact us to find homes for these wonderful dogs. We also
accept into our program family pets that can no longer be cared for by their owners for a variety of reasons. Goldens can ranged in age from puppies to 12 years or older and include both males and females. We are also engaged in educating the public about buying dogs from breeders and in shutting down "puppy mills". As a rule, our orphans make wonderful pets and adjust well to their new families. Golden Retrievers are large, active dogs who often act like
"puppies" until they are 3 or more years old. For working couples or families with small children, we highly recommended adopting an adult, housebroken dog because these dogs settle into the family much more easily and quickly than puppies. If age and health permit, we spay/neuter the dogs prior to adoption.
